SFU’s Faculty of Health Sciences is accepting applications for its Fall 2027 PhD intake. The faculty’s research areas include infectious diseases, mental health, big data, planetary health, and policy and systems research.
The PhD page lists several entry routes, including:
Applicants must meet the programme’s detailed academic requirements, demonstrate English-language competency when required, and obtain confirmation from a prospective Health Sciences supervisor by the deadline. Applicants without a confirmed supervisor will not be considered.
This is an admission opportunity, not a general scholarship announcement. SFU says the prospective supervisor provides minimum funding, but the specific Fall 2027 funding amount and terms are not stated on the standard intake page.
SFU’s separate off-cycle admission guidance lists CAD 28,000 per year for the first four PhD years. Do not treat that as confirmed funding for this Fall 2027 intake without programme confirmation.
The official page lists:
For initial supervisor contact, SFU asks applicants to provide a CV, research-interest area and academic transcripts. Official transcripts are required after an offer.
Admission is competitive and minimum qualifications do not guarantee admission. SFU’s MSc/PhD page says a WES or ICES credential evaluation is not required for these programmes.
SFU provides international-student advising, including study-permit information. Admission does not guarantee a study permit.
The confirmed-supervisor requirement is mandatory. The CAD 28,000 amount is published for off-cycle applicants and has not been confirmed for the Fall 2027 intake.
