General Eligibility Requirements
* Be at least 18 years old at the time of application
* Be enrolled full-time in an eligible undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master's programme
* Attend an eligible academic institution
* Have completed the required amount of undergraduate study for their country
* Meet their country's minimum academic-grade requirement
* Have the required number of semesters remaining in their programme
* Have sufficient English and/or French proficiency for their selected research projects
* Be available for the required internship period in Canada
* Not have previously received a Mitacs Globalink Research Internship project
Applicants must select between three and ten research projects and choose projects from at least three different Canadian provinces.
Important Country Eligibility Warning
The Globalink Research Internship is not automatically open to students studying in every country.
For example, Nigeria is not currently listed among the participating countries for the 2027 student call.
However, some participating countries do not impose citizenship restrictions. Eligibility may therefore depend on where a student is enrolled rather than solely on nationality.
Applicants should use the official Mitacs country eligibility section to determine whether their university, degree programme and academic status qualify.

Reference Letter Requirement
The professor writing the reference letter should have supervised or co-supervised the applicant's work and should be able to discuss their academic and research experience.

Applicants cannot simply arrange a Globalink internship with any Canadian professor.
