The University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships support high-achieving domestic and international students enrolling in graduate research degrees at the University of Melbourne.
The scholarship may provide 100% fee remission, a living allowance of AUD $39,500 per year pro rata for 2026, relocation support, and Overseas Student Health Cover for eligible international students who require a student visa.
New students do not need to submit a separate scholarship application. If they apply for a graduate research course by the course application deadline, they will be automatically considered.

Have applied for and meet the requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne, or
Be currently enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne
Selection Criteria
Selection is based on academic merit and research potential. The university may consider academic achievement, research potential, relevant professional experience, publications, specialist qualifications, or other evidence of research strength.
New students should apply for a graduate research course at the University of Melbourne by the course application deadline. They will then be automatically considered for the Graduate Research Scholarships.
Current students or deferred offer holders may need to submit the online scholarship form by 31 October.
