International students can apply for Slovakia’s 2026/2027 Talent Scholarship and receive €500 per month to pursue an eligible full-time bachelor’s, combined bachelor’s–master’s or master’s degree at a selected public or state university in Slovakia.
Full Description
The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic is accepting applications for the Scholarships for Talented Students from All Over the World for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The program is designed to attract talented international students to selected public and state higher-education institutions in Slovakia. Eligible applicants must study full-time and in person in an approved program connected to Slovakia’s Smart Specialization Strategy, SK RIS3 2021+.
Successful students receive €500 per month for ten months of each academic year.
Bachelor’s and combined bachelor’s–master’s students may receive support for up to three academic years, giving a maximum potential award of €15,000.
Master’s students may receive the scholarship for up to two academic years, giving a normal maximum award of €10,000.
Applicants must complete a separate application for admission directly with an eligible Slovak university. Applying for the scholarship does not constitute a university application and does not guarantee admission.
Scholarship Benefits
* €500 monthly scholarship payment
* Payments for ten months per academic year
* Up to €5,000 per academic year
* Up to €15,000 for eligible bachelor’s students
* Up to €15,000 for the first three years of an eligible combined programme
* Up to €10,000 for eligible two-year master’s students
* Possible tuition-fee waiver for eligible foreign-language programmes, at the university’s discretion
* Opportunity to participate in Erasmus+ and other academic-mobility programmes
Number of Scholarships
* 170 for bachelor’s and combined bachelor’s–master’s applicants
* 55 for master’s applicants
* 110 are intended for public universities outside the Bratislava region
* 60 are intended for public universities in the Bratislava region
* 35 are intended for public universities outside the Bratislava region
* 20 are intended for public universities in the Bratislava region
The Ministry may adjust the final number of awards.
Eligible Study Levels
* Full-time bachelor’s degree
* Full-time combined bachelor’s and master’s degree
* Full-time master’s degree
Doctoral and PhD programmes are not eligible.
General Eligibility Requirements
* Be an international applicant or an eligible Slovak living abroad
* Apply for an approved full-time, in-person programme
* Select a supported programme at an eligible public or state Slovak higher-education institution
* Meet the relevant citizenship and residence requirements
* Submit the required standardised-test result
* Provide a structured CV in English
* Provide a motivation letter in English
* Meet the university’s separate admission requirements
* Become officially admitted, enrolled and begin the approved programme before scholarship payments can be made
There is no stated upper age limit. Applicants younger than 18 must submit signed consent from a legal guardian.
Bachelor’s Eligibility
* Have completed secondary education outside Slovakia
* Intend to begin eligible studies in Slovakia in the 2026/2027 academic year
* Not have previously attended secondary school in Slovakia, subject to stated exceptions
* Not have previously studied at a Slovak higher-education institution, except through qualifying academic mobility
* Have applied to or been admitted by an eligible Slovak university
Applicants may submit the scholarship application after applying to the university, even when the final admission decision is not yet available. However, the scholarship will only be paid after the applicant is officially admitted, enrolled and has begun studying.
Master’s Eligibility
* International applicants who completed their bachelor’s degree outside Slovakia and are entering a Slovak master’s programme for the first time
* Applicants progressing continuously from a bachelor’s degree at a Slovak university, subject to the programme’s previous-funding conditions
* Qualifying former recipients of the earlier Recovery and Resilience Plan scholarship who progress continuously to an eligible master’s programme
Standardised-Test Requirement
* SAT result of at least 1100 points; or
* SCIO Mathematics and General Academic Prerequisites results with an average percentile of at least 63
The SAT or SCIO certificate is compulsory. It cannot be replaced by IELTS, TOEFL, university grades, work experience or another examination.
Applicants are ranked using the result of the selected standardised test. Meeting the minimum score makes an applicant eligible for consideration but does not guarantee selection.

Application Process
The scholarship application cannot be submitted by email.
Important Conditions
* The scholarship is separate from university admission.
* A scholarship offer does not automatically admit the applicant to a university.
* Only selected study programmes qualify.
* The programme must be full-time and conducted in person.
* The scholarship does not support PhD studies.
* Changing to another university after the scholarship has been awarded is generally not permitted.
* Changing to part-time study can terminate the scholarship.
* Interrupting or terminating the programme may suspend or end payments.
* The scholarship does not guarantee a visa.
* Tuition waivers are not automatic and remain a university decision.
Eligible Nationalities
International applicants worldwide, subject to the official citizenship, residence, admission, and programme requirements.
Study in Slovakia with a scholarship worth €500 per month. International bachelor’s and master’s applicants can receive up to €15,000, subject to programme, admission and SAT or SCIO requirements.
