The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic is a government-funded scholarship programme for international applicants who want to complete a temporary academic, research, teaching or artistic stay in Slovakia.
Eligible applicants may include master’s-level university students, PhD students, university teachers, researchers and artists. The scholarship is intended for mobility stays at Slovak higher education institutions and research organisations.
This opportunity should not be confused with a full-degree scholarship. The official programme terms state that it does not support international students or PhD students accepted for full bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree studies in Slovakia.
Applicants usually need an acceptance or invitation letter from an eligible Slovak host institution. The online application is submitted through the official scholarship portal, and the application system opens at least six weeks before the deadline.

Required documents
-Acceptance or invitation letter from a Slovak host institution
The required documents depend on whether the applicant is applying as a student, PhD student, university teacher, researcher or artist.
Important warning
This is not a full-degree scholarship.
Do not apply to this programme expecting full bachelor’s, master’s or PhD admission funding in Slovakia. The programme is for temporary mobility stays, and applicants usually need a Slovak host institution before applying. The official page clearly excludes full-degree study applicants from support under this programme.
