Eligibility
Academic performance is the most important criterion, but Heidelberg does not publish one universal minimum GPA.
You don't necessarily need a perfect GPA.
The university says academic performance should generally be in the good to very good range, but there is no universal minimum grade because other factors and competition are also considered.
Required Documents
Requirements depend partly on your stage of study.
New/early undergraduate students
University entrance qualification certificate.
New/early Master's students
Bachelor's/university degree certificate qualifying you for the Master's programme.
If the final certificate is not available by the deadline, Heidelberg provides an alternative involving a university-issued statement of academic results.

Current transcript of records.
Admission notification, if available
Recommendation letter, if available
Documents can be submitted in German or English.
Documents in another language require an official certified German or English translation, with both the original and translation uploaded.
Applicants with foreign grades also need the required grade-conversion information.

π¨ Important Warnings
1. Scholarship β university admission
Applying for the Deutschlandstipendium does not constitute an application for Heidelberg admission.
Students must handle their university admission application separately.
2. Admission is not required before applying for the scholarship
Prospective students can submit the scholarship application even if they have not yet received their Heidelberg admission decision.
But funding ultimately requires Heidelberg enrolment.
3. It is NOT fully funded
βFully Funded Heidelberg University Scholarship.β
The confirmed award is β¬300/month.
4. Visa support
I cannot confirm visa sponsorship, visa fees, travel funding, flights or accommodation from the official Germany Scholarship information.
The scholarship should therefore not be promoted as a visa-sponsored opportunity.
5. International tuition warning
There is another major issue international students need to understand.
Heidelberg states that many non-EU/non-EEA international students with foreign university entrance qualifications are generally subject to β¬1,500 per semester tuition fees for Bachelor's, Staatsexamen and consecutive Master's programmes in Baden-WΓΌrttemberg, although statutory exceptions exist.
So β¬300/month scholarship does not automatically mean tuition-free studies.
