DW describes this as a paid, full-time traineeship lasting 18 months. Training includes seminars, practical newsroom placements, and work involving TV, radio, online journalism and digital storytelling.

After registering in the portal, applicants receive a confirmation email with further tasks. Completing the questionnaire and producing a video application are mandatory. Both must be uploaded to the applicant profile before the deadline.
The portal also provides fields for a cover letter and photo, but they are not marked as mandatory in the form.
The traineeship starts on 3 January 2028 and runs for 18 months. DW says placements may take place in Bonn, Berlin and its international bureaus. It describes a possible ongoing contract after completion as a prospect, not a guarantee.
DW’s vacancy welcomes applicants regardless of nationality, but it does not confirm visa sponsorship or immigration assistance. Admission to the selection process does not guarantee a visa.
DW confirms that the traineeship is paid, but the official vacancy does not publish a salary figure. The official sources reviewed do not confirm an application fee, visa sponsorship, relocation support, or coverage of travel, accommodation, insurance or living costs. Applicants should confirm these points with DW before making financial plans.
