The Australian National University has opened applications for five National Security College scholarships for students beginning or continuing eligible national security studies in 2027.
Applications opened on 1 September 2026 and close on 30 November 2026.
The scholarships support students connected to ANUβs Master of National Security Policy. One award covers 100% of tuition for up to 72 units, another provides a 50% tuition scholarship, and three offer cash payments worth up to AUD 36,000.
Available scholarships
This scholarship covers 100% of tuition for the eligible programme, up to 72 units.
Applicants must be Australian citizens who identify as women and have received an offer for the Master of National Security Policy. Employment restrictions involving the Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force, Australian Federal Police and National Intelligence Community also apply.
The award does not cover accommodation, books, study materials, student-service fees or general living costs.
2. ANU National Security Policy Scholarship
This scholarship covers 50% of tuition, with ANU describing the maximum benefit as AUD 28,080 for the full degree.
Applicants must be domestic commencing students, hold an offer for the Master of National Security Policy and demonstrate financial hardship.
3. National Security College Student Excellence Scholarship
This academic-merit scholarship provides a maximum cash payment of AUD 36,000, normally calculated at up to AUD 24,000 per annum over 72 units.
Applicants must be domestic commencing students with an admission offer for the Master of National Security Policy.
The scholarship does not separately waive tuition fees.
4. National Security College Indigenous Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship provides a maximum cash payment of AUD 36,000.
It is restricted to domestic applicants who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and have admission to the Master of National Security Policy or Graduate Certificate of National Security Policy.
5. Dr Margot McCarthy Memorial Scholarship for Women in Security
This award provides a maximum cash payment of AUD 36,000.
It is available to domestic women who are commencing or continuing the Master of National Security Policy.
