Faculty-specific scholarship rules
Faculty of Science
•GPA above 90% of the bachelor’s degree required for consideration
•Only the first-priority application is considered
•2025 recipients had a minimum GPA of 98%
•Award covers tuition and living expenses for 22 months
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
•Very limited awards
•May cover tuition plus living expenses or tuition only
•Living grants may be taxable
Faculty of Humanities
•Eligible non-EU/EEA applicants are automatically considered
•No additional scholarship documents are required
Faculty of Social Sciences
•Generally two to three awards per year
•Scholarships are connected only to the September intake
Faculty of Theology
•Generally fewer than four awards per year
•Partial tuition waiver only
•No basic living-cost grant
•Tuition may need to be paid before the scholarship decision
Required documents
There is no separate scholarship-document list because there is no separate scholarship application.
For the master’s admission application, applicants may need:
•Bachelor’s degree certificate or proof of expected completion
•Official academic transcripts
•Proof of English or Danish proficiency
•Programme-specific self-assessment form or course descriptions
•Proof of payment of the DKK 1,120 application deposit, unless exempt
•Additional documents required by the chosen programme

Application steps
1.Search the University of Copenhagen master’s catalogue.
2.Select a programme that matches your bachelor’s degree.
3.Read the programme-specific admission and documentation requirements.
4.Consider your priority order carefully. Science scholarship consideration is limited to the first-priority programme.
5.Pay the DKK 1,120 application deposit unless exempt.
6.Apply through the UCPH application portal.
7.Upload every required document before the admission deadline.
8.Do not submit a separate scholarship form.
9.Monitor the application portal regularly for admission or scholarship messages.
10.Accept any scholarship offer within the stated deadline or it may be withdrawn.
11.After admission, follow the residence-permit instructions sent by UCPH.
Visa and residence-permit information
This scholarship does not amount to visa sponsorship.
After admission, UCPH sends the relevant residence-permit application form. Non-EU/EEA students must obtain the required residence permit, and applicants from visa-required countries may also need an entry visa. The residence-permit process typically takes two to three months and carries a separate government application fee.
Important warnings
•Do not advertise this as guaranteed funding.
•Do not advertise every award as fully funded.
•No separate scholarship application means applicants cannot compensate for a weak admission - application with a scholarship essay.
•Academic performance, not financial hardship, drives selection.
•Scholarship numbers are extremely limited.
•Applicants may receive admission without receiving a scholarship.
•Applicants should be financially prepared for tuition and living expenses until funding is formally confirmed.
•Copenhagen living expenses are estimated at €1,280–€1,800 monthly.
•The DKK 1,120 application deposit is generally non-refundable once the application is submitted.
•A scholarship offer can be revoked if the applicant misses the acceptance deadline.
