SCI Germany offers long-term volunteering in Germany through sending organisations in selected countries. The programme is designed as a learning and intercultural exchange programme, with volunteers supporting social and ecological projects in Germany.
Eligible Countries Listed by SCI Germany:
Cambodia, Ecuador, India, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Togo, Tanzania, Uganda, and Vietnam.
African Countries Listed:
Nigeria, Togo, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Benefits:
Accommodation, food, insurance, German courses, visa fees, international flights, local travel costs, and monthly pocket money may be covered by SCI and the project.
Requirements:
* Age 18 to 29; in justified cases, up to 34 may be accepted
* Active membership or involvement in a sending/partner organisation or other social/volunteer organisation
* Working English
* Serious motivation to learn German
* German A1 for most projects at the start; some projects may require A2 or B1
* Willingness to serve full-time, around 38.5 to 40 hours per week
* Additional project-specific requirements may apply

SCI Germany says volunteers from countries outside the listed countries cannot take part in this long-term Germany programme. Those applicants should use the weltwรคrts organisation finder instead.
TripDoc Verdict:
Very strong for Nigeria, Togo, Tanzania, and Uganda. This is one of the best routes to explain to clients, but it is not open to all African countries.
