The Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) 2027 Visiting Fellowship enables international early-career researchers to undertake a 12-month research project at a host institution in France. The programme is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in partnership with the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space and is implemented by Campus France.
The call is open now and closes on 15 December 2026 at 23:59 CET. Selected researchers are expected to begin their stay in France between September and December 2027.

The five eligible areas are Earth system sciences; climate change and sustainability sciences; energy transition; societal challenges related to environmental issues; and integrated One Health research involving human, animal and environmental health.
Projects focused only on medicine or human health do not meet the One Health requirement without a genuine animal-health and ecosystem dimension. Humanities and social-science projects may qualify if they clearly address an eligible MOPGA theme.
Applications may be written in English or French. The programme is not open to Master's or PhD students.
The official FAQ permits a possible eligibility extension for maternity leave, subject to documentation. Because the application guide uses broader parental-leave wording, applicants relying on this exception should confirm their case with Campus France.

This should not be described as all-expenses-paid. International travel is not covered. The programme also does not fund laboratory costs, and the official sources do not list accommodation, visa fees or dependant costs as benefits.

Selection process and timeline
Applications first undergo assessment by scientific experts appointed by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space. A scientific committee then makes the final selection.
Important conditions
Finding a French host laboratory is an integral part of the application. The applicant must obtain a supervisor's support letter and laboratory-director approval before submitting. The host must provide an appropriate scientific environment, but receives no programme funding for laboratory costs.
Successful applicants receive French Government Scholarship holder status and must sign a research-stay agreement with the French host institution.
The fellowship cannot be combined with a French employment contract, including a research or postdoctoral contract, or with another individual funding award from a French government entity.
International airfare is the applicant's responsibility unless the host laboratory independently agrees to assist. Such assistance is not guaranteed.
