Program Description Apply for DAAD EPOS Development-Related Postgraduate Courses in Germany. Monthly stipend, insurance support, travel allowance and selected postgraduate study routes for graduates from eligible developing countries with work experience. Deadline varies by course.
Who can apply
Graduates from eligible developing and newly industrialised countries with at least two years of relevant professional experience.
Benefits

• Monthly doctoral stipend of €1,300, rising to €1,400 from February 2026

Apply Now ↗ Hold a Bachelor’s degree, usually a four-year degree, in a relevant subject
• Have at least two years of related professional experience
• Have strong academic results, typically upper-third performance
• Show development-related motivation
• Be expected to take social responsibility and support change after the scholarship
• Meet the language requirement of the selected course
• For German-taught courses: have at least B1 German at application stage
• For English-taught courses: provide the English proof required by the selected course
• Not have lived in Germany for more than 15 months at the application deadline
DAAD lists the required documents in this order: • Completed and signed checklist
• DAAD EPOS application form
• Europass CV in reverse chronological order with no unexplained gaps
• Current employer recommendation letter with letterhead, signature and official stamp
• Employment certificate showing at least two years of relevant work experience
• Recent proof of language skills
• Higher education degree certificates
• Full transcript of records
• Explanation of grading system if not already shown on the transcript
• APS certificate for applicants from China
• Any extra documents required by the selected course
1. Choose up to three EPOS-listed postgraduate courses.
2. Check each course’s official deadline and application method.
3. Prepare the DAAD EPOS documents and any extra course-specific documents.
4. Submit the complete application directly to the selected postgraduate course.
5. If nominated, DAAD will contact you to upload documents to the DAAD Portal.
6. Final selection is completed after the university/course and DAAD process.
• Do not send your application directly to DAAD first.
• Applications sent to DAAD are not forwarded to the university/course.
• Deadline depends on the specific course.
• You can apply for a maximum of three courses.
• If applying to more than one course, your priority order must remain consistent.
• Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
• One motivation letter must explain all selected courses and your priority order.
• Applicants resident in Germany for more than 15 months at the deadline cannot be considered.
• Do not claim “fully funded” for every course unless the selected course confirms tuition/fee coverage.
