Who can apply?
Citizens of Chevening-eligible countries and territories who satisfy the programme’s education, post-graduation work-experience, course-selection and return-home requirements.
Applicants should use the official country selector to confirm that an award is available for their citizenship.
Benefits
A standard full Chevening Scholarship generally includes:

The monthly stipend depends on whether the scholar studies inside or outside London and is subject to annual review. Chevening has not published one universal stipend figure that applies to every 2027–2028 scholar.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory. Intend to support their country of award. Commit to returning to their country of award for at least two years after completing the scholarship. Have at least 2,800 hours of work experience obtained after completing their undergraduate degree. Have accumulated that experience over at least two years. Have completed their undergraduate studies by October 2024 for the current application cycle. Hold a degree that qualifies them for admission to a UK master’s programme. Select three different eligible UK university courses. Obtain at least one unconditional offer from those choices by 8 July 2027.
Eligible experience can include full-time work, part-time employment, voluntary work and paid or unpaid internships—but only qualifying experience obtained after completion of the undergraduate degree counts for this cycle.
Eligible courses
Courses must:
Be full-time Be UK-based Begin in autumn 2027 Lead to a taught master’s qualification Last between nine and 12 months
Part-time, distance-learning, PhD, DPhil and research-focused MRes programmes are not eligible. Courses involving more than one month of study outside the UK are also excluded.
Application-stage information and documents
Prepare:

If invited to interview, applicants must upload the requested documents at least seven working days before the interview, including:
Photo identification Undergraduate degree certificate or diploma Two reference letters
References must be in English. A reference written in another language must include the original and a notarised English translation.
University applications are separate and may require transcripts, a personal statement, references, English-language evidence and other course-specific documents.
Application steps Confirm that your country and scholarship route are available. Read the full eligibility requirements. Calculate only work experience obtained after completing your undergraduate degree. Research three distinct Chevening-eligible courses. Create an application through the official Chevening country page. Write the application answers yourself. Submit before 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC. Apply separately to the chosen universities. If shortlisted, upload the required interview documents and references. Secure and submit at least one unconditional university offer by 8 July 2027 at 17:00 BST.
Important warnings
Work before graduation: Do not automatically count it. The current cycle requires qualifying experience acquired after completing the undergraduate degree. -** AI prohibition:** Chevening prohibits AI-generated application answers and says fraudulent, plagiarised or AI-generated submissions may be disqualified.
**Free application: **Chevening does not charge an application fee or endorse paid third-party application agents.
**University costs: **Some universities charge their own application or tuition-deposit fees. Chevening does not pay tuition deposits while applicants are securing offers.
**MBA restriction: **Chevening’s tuition contribution for an MBA is capped at £22,000. The scholar may need to cover any balance.
**Visa: **Chevening does not submit the Student visa application for the scholar. The selected scholar applies personally using Chevening’s instructions.
**Dependants: **Funding is for the scholar. Do not advertise funded travel or living support for spouses or children.
**Return requirement: **Scholars must return to their country of award for at least two years after the scholarship.
**Course changes: **Course choices generally cannot be changed after submission without permission.
